From 1960 to 1970, there were many different bands starting. Most of these bands are still remembered by many people to this very day. Here are two that you might recognise, along with a little information about them.
The Beatles started in 1960.John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr were all in the popular band. They made many hits including Love Me Do, Twist And Shout and Yellow Submarine. Although in September 1969 John Lennon privately informed the other Beatles that he was leaving the group, there was no public acknowledgement of the break-up until Paul McCartney announced on 10 April 1970 he was leaving the Beatles. All these stars are still alive and some even still singing, all except for John Lennon. Unfortunatly for John, he was shot on December 8, 1980.
Split Enz was a new wave band from New Zealand that was popular during the late 1970s and early 1980s. It was founded in 1973 by Tim Finn and Phil Judd, and had a variety of other members during its existence.Neil Finn, Tim Finn, Paul Hester, Eddie Rayner, Noel Crombie and Nigel Griggs were all members of the gruop. They were making music until 1984. Some of their songs are; Six Months In A Leaky Boat, I See Red and I Got You. Most opf the band is still singing except Paul Hester. On March 26 2005, aged 46, Hester died by suicide by hanging himself in Elsternwick Park near his home.
