Hang gliders are really fun to use and you can get some amazing views without
having to look out of a small plane window. They come in all shapes, sizes
and colors
Hang gliders need help to get up in the air but then
it's up to the wing design and the
air flow to keep them flying. One way that
gliders get up into the air is called an aero-tow. A
rope connected to a glider is attached to a regular plane
. The glider pilot releases the rope when the glider
is at the right altitude.
Parts of a hang glider:
Aluminum tubes
Sail
King post
Aluminum tubes make up the skeleton of the glider.
The Sail is the flying surface, usually made of nylon or Dacron.
The King post is attached to the keel on the other side of the control bar,
supporting the wires on the top of the glider.
