    Are Zebras Related to Horses?

    Yes, a zebra is a species of wild horse that lives in Africa. Zebras are members of the Equidae family of the genus Equus. The Equidae family (known as equids) also includes horses and asses, but zebras are not merely striped horses, they're a different species from the horse.

    How many Zebras in the world

    Overall, plains zebras number at around 750,000. Historically, there were over 15,000 Grevy's zebras. However, there are only about 2,500 remaining today. There are 600-700 cape mountain zebras and around 800-1300 Hartmann's mountain zebras in the wild.

    Where do Zebras Live?

    Though they all live in Africa, each species of zebra has its own home area. Plains zebras live in the treeless grasslands and woodlands of eastern and southern Africa. The Grevy's zebra lives in in the arid grasslands of Ethiopia and northern Kenya. The mountain zebra is found in South Africa, Namibia and Angola.
