Basketball was created in 1891 by James Naismith a YMCA PE teacher. Dribbling wasn't apart of the original game until 1896 when the double dribble rule was added. Basketball Didn't really gain much popularity untill 1921 when it was spread around the country by James Naismith and the YMCA it even got some places in Canada. It wasn't until the 1940's when Proffesional teams started to pop up
