Nicholas "Nick" Thomas was born in Columbus, Ohio. He can play guitar. He met Tyler Joseph (his future bandmate) at a young age while playing little league basketball in Columbus, Ohio. The two remained friends as Nick then transferred to Tyler's school for eighth grade and throughout the duration of high school as well.
because of their close friendship, Nick contributed guitar to several songs on Tyler's NPI album, and collaborated on the song "Trees", which was to become a signature Twenty One Pilots song
